Reflections.

Currently sitting in Montreal airport on the way home. From everybody's Facebook status's it sounds like the weather really sucks in Winnipeg. Joy. It's raining here. We left perfect weather. In fact, yesterday in Montego Bay we were rather dumb and all got a little burnt. Allan especially. Man it was hot.

We moved into the Holiday Inn Sunspree for an all-inclusive last day and night. It was a great decision.

So, for 7 nights we stayed in 5 different rooms in 4 different hotels in 3 different cities. We should have changed the name of this trip to the North Shore of Jamaica extravaganza.

Favourite moments:

Tony: Finding LTU restaurant in Negril - gorgeous, on the water, cliffs, musician
Mi Yard - home away from home and Edward expat from PEI
Evita's
Dunn's River
the last hotel experience
It was all good

Allan: Being saved on the falls by Tony
the all-inclusive at the end was nice
getting to Jamaica on the first day even tho we missed our connection
The restaurants
Laura thinking she was wasted when the problem was she was walking with her reading glasses on

Laura: Samsara resort except for the horrible construction noise in the morning
Meeting Eva from Evita's - the meal was fantastic too.
It was definitely a peak moment (Amazing Race style) when I was able to get us rerouted when others had failed.
Loved LTU.
Loved being free to be spontaneous and move from place to place
Finding my phone after I lost it
The singer last night
The awesome guys I travelled with.

Ocho and Dunn's River

Can't wait to add photos but today am in an internet cafe so it will have to be later. Did Dunn's River Falls yesterday. Wasn't sure if it would be too touristy and not much fun but there were no cruise ships in port and Tony in particular HAD A BLAST. He's like monkey boy. Up those falls right from the ocean side (you'll know about that Clark). It was a perfect day and there were really not very many people around. Had a fantastic dinner last night at an Italian place called Evita's. Evita came out and talked with us and we heard her story. (Will add photos later). She was originally from Venice.

Went to a bar to watch a live band but their sound system was so bad we couldn't take it.

Will enjoy the day in Ocho today and then head to an all-inclusive in Montego Bay for our last relaxing day/night.

Ocho Rios

Found a nice place to stay - Fisherman's Point. It's more of a condo place. Unfortunately, I cant get on the internet here - I had my laptop all set up with photos to add - but Tony's works so I thought I'd just do a quick update. After a pleasant evening and a visit to Margaritaville, Ocho, we had a great sleep last night. Much different than being awoken by tons of construction. I think we're going to head to Dunn's River Falls today 'cause there are no cruise ships in port and so it is really quiet here. Seems like a good day to go do the tourist thing.

Danger- travelling with us can be confusing....

Well, another executive decision.....we decided to drive to Ocho Rios today to spend a few days. Part of it is just to show Tony more of the island. Part of it was....well....we could.

Allan diplomatically talked us out of our rooms at the Sansara (we got in quite late last night and the VERY LOUD construction started before 8 am.) It was definitely not cool and not very vacation-like.

The good news was, I found my phone which reduced my stress level dramatically.

So we're having lunch at the Jamaican Bobsled Cafe on Gloucester Avenue here in Montego Bay.

Clark, I am thinking of you constantly - wish you were here - but I'm not sure how you would have enjoyed this nomadic lifestyle. Maybe you would.

They say the rastas have taken over and now it's difficult to find Jerk Pork - so I'm still looking for my first good Jerk meal. Looking forward to the Jerk Centre in Ocho for dinner tonight. Hope it's still there and serving pork.

We'll be in Ocho for 2 nights and then come back for our last night in Mo Bay. Will add pics later.

Dang

Lost my phone today which has caused me a fair bit of consternation.  Other than that though, it was a great day.  Started with Allan running out to get us patties for breakfast.  Spent the day chilaxin' by the pool.  Then went out for the evening.  Had a quiet but nice time.  Hope things are well in Winnipeg - I definitely don't like being this disconnected.

Sorry for the delay.

We've had quite a few adventures and it's only our second day. Were late leaving Winnipeg (no surprise) and missed our connection in Toronto. So they really tried to keep us in Toronto for the night but I just couldn't fathom that they couldn't get us down here when we had the whole day to work with. Finally they were able to reroute us through Miami. So instead of arriving at 12:30 we got here at 9 pm. Allan did a masterful job of driving through the dark to deliver us safely to Negril.

We stayed our first night at Xtabi. Long story short - it just wasn't a good fit for us. Tony enjoyed his sleep under the stars though on the balcony.

Today we got up and did a bit of a search and found Samsara and decided to stay there. It took a little bit of fancy talking but we got out of our reservation. We're really happy at Samsara and have met some nice people from Chicago.

Allan, Tony and I went out for a really nice dinner tonight and how we're at Mi Yard, a very authentic, rustic bar that just happens to have good wireless access. We were here last night and had a great time with Edward - formerly of PEI, now a permanent resident. Mi Yard's claim to fame (or one of them) is that it is a 24 hour bar/restaurant. It has been open in an unbroken string for 14 years.
We're really glad we have a car. We've covered a lot of territory already.

We actually feel like the real holiday will start tomorrow. Weather is perfect. Not eating TOOOO much - trying to keep my diet going . Beer is a problem admitedly. The photo of the pool is from our room. The photo of Tony reading is from the warm tub looking at our room.
Sorry about all that snow.
Miss y'all.
